It has been a strong summer for jobs in the United States. In the month of July alone, the US added a 209,000 non-farm jobs, more than the originally expected 183,000. The unemployment rates also dipped to 4.3%, like we previously saw in the month of May. This is the lowest unemployment rate we’ve seen in 16 years and is a promising sign for job seekers.

“The economy is looking pretty good,” said Cathy Barrera, chief economic adviser at ZipRecruiter, the job posting site. Many economists also agree that the United States is inching towards “full employment”, which means that the unemployment rate should remain at the same level and not see any further significant drops.

According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, several industries continue to see job growth, including:

• Restaurants and Bars (+ 53,000)
• Professional and Business Services (+ 49,000)
• Healthcare (+ 39,000)
• Manufacturing (+ 16,000)

The number of workers in “involuntary” part-time positions, however, remains to be changed at 5.3 million. These workers report taking up part-time positions because they are unable to find full-time permanent positions. Meanwhile, wages have remained approximately the same within the month of July. Following the increase in jobs, the US economy is still waiting to see a wage spike.
